Grant of $75,000 will help save more pet lives in the Wichita community

The Kansas Humane Society (KHS) announced today a $75,000 grant investment from the newly named, Petco Love, to support their lifesaving work for animals in the Wichita area.

Petco Love is a nonprofit leading change for pets nationally by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since their founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, they’ve empowered organizations with nearly $300 million invested to date in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And, they’ve helped find loving homes for more than 6.5 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations, like ours, nationwide.

“Today Petco Love announces an investment in the Kansas Humane Society and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessary euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only one component. This month, we will also launch the first of our national tools to empower all animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”

“This grant from Petco Love will help us continue to do important lifesaving work in our community,” said Emily Hurst, KHS President/CEO. “We’re very thankful to know we will have the resources needed to continue providing medical care to sick and injured animals, food and shelter for homeless pets, and spay/neuter services reduce pet overpopulation and prevent unwanted litters. This grant will go so far towards helping us save as many lives as possible and finding loving homes for pets in need.”

The Kansas Humane Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving more animal lives each year and reducing pet overpopulation in the Wichita area. Since 1888, the Kansas Humane Society has focused on creating a more humane community for pets and their people. In 2020, the Kansas Humane Society found homes or rescue placement for nearly 9,000 pets, and had a 98% save rate.
