Face Coverings Required at KHS
The Kansas Humane Society (KHS) is complying with the Kansas Governor's statewide face mask mandate to protect our staff, volunteers and members of the community. Effective July 3 until further notice, all visitors to KHS must wear a face covering that covers the nose and mouth, at all times while at KHS. This requirement does not apply to children 11 years old and under or to individuals who are unable to wear a face covering due to a medical condition.
We thank you for helping us keep our staff, volunteers and guests safe and healthy so that we are able to continue providing care and shelter for homeless animals.
KHS also requests that visitors continue to observe safe social distancing, even while wearing face coverings. If you do not have an appropriate face covering when you arrive at KHS, a limited amount of single use face masks will be available for purchase for $2 each.
KHS will continue to limit the number of guests in our building at one time to follow CDC recommendations for limits on the size of gatherings. Please help us by limiting the size of your group when visiting KHS. While indoors and outdoors, please maintain at least 6 feet of space between yourself and others.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Adoption and Additional Services
To better serve our community while keeping the public, our staff and the animals safe, KHS is open to the public on a limited basis. For the health and safety of everyone, and to comply with limitations on gatherings, KHS is limiting the number of guests in our building at a time. Please limit the size of your group when visiting KHS.
- Adoptions are available without an appointment on a first come, first served basis. Please know which animals you want to visit with before arriving. If we are at capacity when you arrive, you will be asked to wait outside or in your vehicle. Staff will call or text you once you can enter the building to adopt. If you're adopting a dog and already have a dog at home, you are welcome to bring it along for a dog to dog introduction before adopting.
- We are scheduling admissions appointments for owners that need to surrender their animals. Please call 316-524-9196 to schedule an appointment.
- Appointments for spay/neuter services are now available. Click here to sign up.
- TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) services will be available beginning July 5. Click here for more information.
