JOB DESCRIPTION: Spay/Neuter Clinic Volunteer

GOAL: The goal of the Spay/Neuter Clinic Volunteer is to provide assistance to the veterinarian and veterinary support staff, as well as the animal patients in the clinic.

SUPERVISOR: Clinic Veterinarian and Clinic Staff

TIME COMMITMENT: At least two hours per week for a minimum of six months.

AVAILABLE TIMES: Monday - Friday between 11:30am and 4:00 pm

DUTIES: As a Spay/Neuter Clinic Volunteer, you will be doing a variety of activities. These activities include, but are not limited to: cutting drapes and pack wraps; cleaning the prep and surgery suite walls; unfolding newspapers for the cages; washing and folding laundry; cleaning and sterilizing surgical area, instruments and equipment; cleaning animals cages; making sure all patients are clean and dry; cleaning sink and prep area; performing owner call back 48 hrs after surgery and writing in the Pet Passport.

TRAINING: Completion of Volunteer Orientation. Additional training will be provided by the clinic staff. Specific training in the surgery area will be provided by the Veterinary Technician and/or Veterinary Assistant.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must feel comfortable in a hospital setting. The surgery process should be something that greatly interests you and does not make you squeamish. Ideal candidates should have good physical agility and strength and must be able to follow exact directions. MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE.
