JOB DESCRIPTION: Showcasing (Off-site Outreach) Volunteer

GOAL: The goal of the Showcasing Volunteer is to showcase animals from the shelter. The quality of the adoption is just as, if not more important than, the quantity of adoptions. The Kansas Humane Society wants the animal to be a lifetime companion.

SUPERVISOR: Team Captain and/or Volunteer Coordinator

TIME COMMITMENT: At least once per month from 12-3:30 pm (you’ll be at the store from 1-3pm) for a minimum of six months.

AVAILABLE TIMES: Varies, depending on outreach program.

DUTIES: Pick up an animal at the shelter, take it to PETsMART, Mitchell’s, PetCo stores, and Special Events to show the public the fantastic types of animals that can be found at KHS, and return animal to the shelter. You will also be answering basic questions about the animal and the Kansas Humane Society in general.

TRAINING: Completion of Volunteer Orientation. Additional training may be provided by Volunteer Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have the ability to work well with both people and animals, must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a strong desire to learn as much as possible about the emotional and physical needs of a wide variety of animals, must be willing to educate the public, must have good physical strength and agility, must be knowledgeable of KHS policies and procedures. SHOWCASING IS GREAT FOR FAMILIES WITH KIDS AGES 9 & UP, BUT IS FUN FOR ADULTS TOO!
