JOB DESCRIPTION: Level II Adoption Volunteer

GOAL: The goal of the Level II Adoption Volunteer is to assist the adoption staff in helping customers during our busiest times at the shelter.

SUPERVISOR: Adoption Supervisor and/or Team Captain.

TIME COMMITMENT: At least 2 back-to-back shifts once per month for a minimum of six months. Shifts are 2 ½ hours long.

AVAILABLE TIMES: Fridays from 4-6:30 pm, Saturdays and Sundays 11am-1:30pm, 1:30-4pm, 4pm-6:30pm.

DUTIES: The Level II Adoption Volunteer will continue to have all the responsibilities of Level I Adoption Volunteers, including greeting and directing customers as they come into the shelter, setting up adoption kits and cat carriers, stocking collars and leashes, attaching ID tags to collars, and making request box calls. In addition, Level II Adoption Volunteers will be filling out request box cards after approved applications, answering customer’s questions both on the phone and in the shelter, and entering adoption applications into the computer to help the adoption process run more quickly and smoothly.

TRAINING: Completion of Volunteer Orientation. Level II Adoption Volunteers must also consistently complete 6-8 shifts (2 shifts per month for 3-4 months) as a Level I Adoption Volunteer. After the completing your shifts at Level I, you will be evaluated as to whether you are ready to be trained for Level II. Additional training will be given by KHS Management staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have good customer service skills, learn the policies and procedures of the Kansas Humane Society, be willing to learn as much as possible about the emotional and physical needs of a wide variety of animals, be willing to educate the public, have good physical agility and strength. In addition, Level II Adoption Volunteers must have the ability to type data into the computer quickly and efficiently. MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE.
