General and Seasonal Tips for Pet Owners

Fall Pet Care Tips

As winter approaches and the days get shorter, nightly walks with your dog will begin to take place in the dark. A reflective jacket and flashlight for you and a reflective collar for your pet will make you both more visible.

In colder weather, cats may seek the warmth of your car’s engine. Honk your horn or knock on your hood to alert feline nappers.

Halloween can be scary for pets. Keep your pets confined in a quiet place when trick-or-treaters are coming to your door.

Don’t share your chocolate candy with your pets. Chocolate contains theobromine and is poisonous to pets.

Always clean antifreeze spills immediately. Animals are attracted to the sweet taste of the fluid, which is extremely poisonous and even a small amount can be deadly. Consider switching to pet-safe antifreeze.

Give your pets extra attention during the busy fall season. With children at school and adults busy with holiday preparations, your pets may become lonely and depressed. Try to maintain their usual routines as much as possible.
