Tips for Cat Owners
Cat Behavior Problems
Attention Seeking
Sometimes we all need a little extra attention. But if your kitty is crying excessively or pawing, there are solutions other than your life revolving around your cat.
Is there any chance that your kitty has been injured or is ill? Check him over for injuries, or take him to the veterinarian.
Your cat could be lonely or bored. Or, if the cat is older, he may be disoriented.
Your kitty may have been rewarded in the past for crying or pawing. These are habits that need to be retrained.
Cats in heat cry a lot. Get her spayed.

Cats get lonely, too. If your cat has lost a human in his life or an animal companion, he may cry a lot. Be patient and give him time. Or, you may want to consider finding another companion animal for him.
Sometimes, a cat will cry if the owner has had less time to spends at home. A companion animal may help in this situation.
*Animals have their own schedule, and it doesn't always coincide with yours! Sometimes, cats wait until their owner goes to bed, then cry because they want the owner to play. Try spending some time playing with your cat early in the evening. But do not get up to play with a cat after you go to bed or you will encourage the cat to do it again tomorrow night!
* Older cats that are losing their hearing, sight, or sense of smell may cry because they can't find their food dish, litter box, or bed. Wouldn't you?
Put food and water close to his bed, but put the litter box away from both. Make sure it is easy for the cat to reach everything. It's also a good idea to locate an older cat's bed in a warm place.
