The
Kansas Humane Society is a private, non-profit organization that receives
nearly 15,000 animals each year from citizens unable or unwilling to care for
them. Protecting pets since 1888, the Society receives no government, national
humane association or United Way
funding and depends entirely on private donations and adoption fees.
Spay
day was created by the Doris Day Animal League in 1995 and became a program of The Humane Society
of the United States
in 2006. According to The Humane Society of the United States, it’s not just
rabbits that multiply like rabbits. During Spay Day’s first 13 years,
participants spayed or neutered an estimated 1,387,000 animals nationwide.
