Choosing a Pet
Meet Your Match Program
Meet Your Match is an innovative adoption program, developed by the Kansas Humane Society, behavioral consultant Dr. Emily Weiss, and Jesse Winters of the ASPCA to help dogs six months or older find loving homes for a lifetime.
Meet Your Match is an innovative adoption program to help dogs six months or older find loving homes for a lifetime. Prospective adopters complete the "Dog Adoption Profile" designed to provide adoption counselors with a quick method of identifying what dog personality type will best suit that particular person.
Designed to be fun and informative, the application encourages adopters to think about aspects of pet ownership they may not have considered before. After a simple interview, the adopter’s level of animal ownership experience is determined and then matched with dogs who are specifically suited to the adopter’s lifestyle, experience and needs. All adult dog kennel cards have fun "personal ad" descriptions that help describe each dog’s traits. By properly matching the adopter and the dog based on personality rather than physical appearance, the Kansas Humane Society hopes to make quality matches, which maximizes the satisfaction of pet owners with their new companions and increases the odds of successful permanent adoptions.
